RecreationThe Township of Black River-Matheson Recreation Department is responsible for the maintenance of the various recreational and culture facilities within our jurisdiction.The municipality currently has four play parks located within the various townsites. Gauthier Lake and the Black River boat launch area are maintained by our staff. The boat launch provides public access to the Black River water way. The upkeep of two slo-pitch ball parks enables league play and ball tournaments within Black River-Matheson. The arena is the main focus of our department during the winter months. The Municipality also operates three outdoor rinks located in Ramore, Holtyre and Val Gagne. During the summer months, the municpality offers a playground and swimming program. The Recreation Department is also responsible for maintenance of the cemeteries located within our municipality. Any inquiries related to the cemeteries should be directed to the municpal office. Recreation staff provides assistance to the library and museum with required repair work.
